Shifting in Rohini

Rohini is DDA housing more than anything else, and the defining feature of a move here is the walk-up: rows of three and four storey blocks where the flats have no lift at all.

What moving here actually involves

The DDA blocks that make up most of Rohini were built as low-rise walk-ups, so a third or fourth floor flat means every carton, mattress and almirah goes up or down a staircase. This is the single biggest factor in both the time and the price of a move here, and it is why the floor number matters more than the flat size when we quote. Staircases in these blocks are reasonably wide compared with old Delhi, but landings are tight and steel almirahs and double beds usually need dismantling. Sector roads are wide and trucks reach the block without difficulty, so street access is rarely the problem. Newer cooperative societies in the higher sectors and towards Rohini Extension do have lifts and gate procedures closer to Dwarka. The area is also well connected by the Red Line, which matters less for the truck than for scheduling: Outer Ring Road traffic towards central and south Delhi builds early, so morning starts are worth planning.

Rohini shifting questions

What customers in this area ask most often.

Why does the floor number change the price here?

Because most Rohini blocks are walk-ups with no lift, so everything is carried. A fourth floor flat needs more people and more time than a ground floor flat with identical goods. We ask for the floor at survey so the quote is right rather than revised on the day.

Will my steel almirah fit down the staircase?

Often not assembled. Steel almirahs and double beds usually come apart, go down in parts, and are reassembled at the destination. That is standard work here and included, not an extra service.

Do you shift from Rohini to Gurgaon or Noida?

Yes, regularly. Both are cross-city runs from North West Delhi, so we start early to get the loaded truck through Outer Ring Road before traffic builds. Expect the move to occupy most of the day.
